RUSSIA
Moscow is a big and interesting city with a lot of history. There are many old and beautiful buildings, like the Kremlin and Saint Basil’s Cathedral, which have amazing architecture. The Red Square is one of the most famous places in the city, and it is always full of tourists. Moscow also has many parks where people go for walks, even in winter.
The weather is very cold, especially in winter, when there is a lot of snow. Sometimes, the temperature can drop down to -20°C or even lower! People wear thick coats, gloves, and hats to stay warm. The winters are long, but the summers can be warm and pleasant.
People in Russia are a little serious at first, but when you get to know them, they are very friendly and helpful. It is common to greet people with a handshake, and Russians value honesty and respect. Many people take the metro because it is fast, clean, and beautifully decorated with art and chandeliers.
The food is very different from what I usually eat. I found out that borscht (a red beet soup) and pelmeni (small meat dumplings) are both delicious! Russians also drink a lot of tea and eat dark bread.
I will stay here for two years, and I am excited to take up learning more about this country, its culture, and its traditions. I know it will take time to get used to the cold weather, but I’m sure I’ll end up enjoying it. After all, I’ve always wanted to experience life in Russia, and I’m sure it will be worth it!
